‘Doctor Sleep’ Trailer Features Plenty of Terrifying Ties to ‘The Shining’ (VIDEO)

The first trailer for ‘Doctor Sleep’ arrived on Thursday with a look at the sequel to the classic 1980 horror film ‘The Shining’…

It’s been nearly 40 years since Stanley Kubrick terrified moviegoers with his take on the Stephen King horror story ‘The Shining’ and now a sequel titled ‘Doctor Sleep’ looks to recapture that same spirit for 2019.

The first trailer for the upcoming film starring Ewan McGregor as a grown up Danny Torrance debuted on Thursday with plenty of ties to ‘The Shining’ throughout the two minute clip.

‘Doctor Sleep’ picks up years after the events of ‘The Shining’ takes place as Danny tries to live a normal life in the aftermath of the horrific events that haunted his childhood. Unfortunately, Danny is drawn back into the world of the paranormal when he meets a young girl with a similar set of gifts that he calls ‘the shining’. Here is the full synopsis of the upcoming movie due out on November 8.

“Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.”

The trailer takes Danny back to the Overlook including several moments made famous in ‘The Shining’ as well as the moment when he looks through the door that his father Jack smashed through with an axe in an attempt to kill his mother, Wendy.
