It seems that anything Riot Games puts out there is bound to be a huge success – from their two huge esports titles in League of Legends and Valorant, their YouTube shorts that come before their big events, and the other small games they’ve released along the way too. In some ways it’s a testament to the devoted fanbase the games have built with a huge audience, but also to how passionate fans of gaming are as other forms of gaming have always pulled in huge audiences – just look at markets like games of change, some of the biggest games at casino genie have been well-known for movie appearances as an industry throughout the years and have helped set a precedent for different content.
Arcane has shown once again just how passionate these fans can be – split into three different acts with three episodes per act, the nine-hour long series has received a huge amount of praise and the ever elusive 100% rating on popular site Rotten Tomatoes – the top quality animation has certainly helped as something that has been praised throughout every episode with beautiful backdrops too, so much so that the big name talent doing the voice acting may have gone unnoticed by many viewers who had just been looking to see a wider representation of their favourite game characters. This is also reflected by viewing hours, with nearly 80 million hours being viewed since first being released around two-weeks ago and being the #1 viewed show across most of Europe too, the success of an animated show based on a game is incredible to see.
The animation studio of Fortiche Production have been working alongside Riot Games for a number of years to deliver on the YouTube shorts and had been the first attempt for both to release something on such a big scale, and the huge successes found will only inspire more confidence into the future – the second series of Arcane has already been confirmed and receiving a lot of hype unsurprisingly after the first season had been so popular, and will certainly look to double down on the huge success already seen when it does release with plans no doubt it expand into other regions of the lore behind the game too.
There had been initial doubt for the show, turning a game into a show or movie hasn’t always been the most successful, so for Arcane to go on to be as big as it is had been a very big surprise and continuing the strong path that Riot Games is on with a number of other projects in gaming yet to release, and a hint that their newest game of Valorant could also have its own span of animation with its newest music video too.
