The upcoming reboot of the classic teen vampire film ‘The Lost Boys’ has found the majority of its cast along with a director for the pilot episode…
‘The Lost Boys’ are returning to Santa Ana, California.
The CW will reboot the classic teen-vampire film from 1987 that starred Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland about a pair of teenage boys who move to a small town in California with their mother and soon discover a secret underground society of vampires as the ruling class.
The rebooted story will feature a similar plot with a pair of brothers named Michael and Sam Emerson moving to the small town of Santa Ana with their mother following the sudden death of their father.
‘Teen Wolf’ star Tyler Posey has been cast in one of the main roles as Michael (the role originated by Jason Patric) with ‘Kingdom’ star Kiele Sanchez set to play his mother, Lucy.
Relative newcomer Dakota Shapiro will play David — the lead vampire originally portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland — while Medalion Rahimi will play Michael’s love interest Stella, an alteration of the character Star (played by Jami Gertz) in the original film.
In this version of ‘The Lost Boys’, Michael is forced to re-evaluate his life after plans to attend Columbia Medical School are derailed following the diagnosis that he’s been stricken with the same genetic disease that caused his father’s death. His family begrudgingly returns to Santa Ana 27 years after his mother Lucy left town amidst a scandal that saw her break up with an ex-boyfriend and leave with another man.
Once in town, Michael strikes up a friendship with Stella and he’s immediately drawn to her but she’s already taken by her vampire boyfriend David, who leads the local crew of bloodsuckers in town.
Catherine Hardwick, best known for her work on the ‘Twilight’ movie, will direct the pilot episode.
‘The Lost Boys’ series hasn’t been picked up yet outside of a pilot order but the CW is definitely aiming to make this a successful attempt.
