After “GLOW” was unceremoniously cancelled this week, Marc Maron hopes Netflix would offer the chance to make a movie to wrap up the series…
Nobody seems very happy that Netflix decided to pull the plug on the fourth and final season of “GLOW” after the streaming service previously renewed the professional wrestling drama.
The COVID-19 pandemic shut down production on the show earlier this year after an episode was already filmed for the final season. With filming in Los Angeles still coming back with a crawl, Netflix decided to cancel “GLOW” after realizing escalating costs combined with the show not returning until sometime in 2022 was just no longer an investment they wanted to make.
In the aftermath of “GLOW” being cancelled, Marc Maron, who played movie director turned pro wrestling producer Sam Sylvia, says that he’d like to see Netflix at least offer the show the chance to wrap up storylines with a movie.
“I think what they should do is just, OK so you don’t want to do the show anymore, but let us make a movie, right?” Maron said after the cancellation was announced. “Let us wrap it up in a two-hour Netflix movie.
“They had the whole season laid out. We know where it’s gonna go. Why don’t you give the showrunners and the writers and the cast an opportunity to finish the story in a movie, right? I mean I think that would be the best thing.”

Considering the outcry of support shown for “GLOW” after the series was cancelled, Netflix might have to at least consider Maron’s idea.
“GLOW” ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, which helped set up the fourth and final season. The episodes were already in production when the show was forced to shut down due to the pandemic so as Maron explained, the writers had already plotted the course for the final bunch of episodes.
Netflix has gone the movie route to wrap up past series such as “Sense8” although later passed on potentially offering fans of “The OA” a chance to say goodbye to that show after two seasons.
It remains to be seen if “GLOW” will get that opportunity or not but the cast definitely seems to like the idea.
