In the latest recap for “The Mandalorian,” Mando takes on a passenger in order to get closer to finding more of his people but instead he crosses paths with the New Republic…

The journey for Din Djarin to find more of his people in order to return Baby Yoda to its home has been quite dangerous so far.
In the latest episode of “The Mandalorian,” Mando once again gets a lead that he hopes will eventually lead him to more Mandalorians but the journey to receive that information costs him a ride for a passenger to a planet where her husband resides.
Unfortunately, Mando runs into problems along the way when he meets up with a pair of X-wing pilots from the New Republic, which is our first real sign of the government that has taken over in the wake of the Galactic Empire being destroyed.
Of course, Mando being a bounty hunter desperate to stay off the radar for both the New Republic and the remnants of old Imperial forces doesn’t bode well for his trip.
With that said, let’s get to our latest recap for “The Mandalorian” for the episode “Chapter 10: The Passenger”…
Cold as Ice
Picking up from the closing moments of last week’s episode, Mando is riding the speeder back to Mos Eisley while carrying Boba Fett’s armor and Baby Yoda. Sadly, he didn’t find another Mandalorian as expected but he did retrieve the valuable armor belonging to the former bounty hunter, who we learned wasn’t quite as dead as expected.
It seems Boba Fett survived his encounter in the Great Pit of Carkoon after wrestling with the mighty Sarlacc. Sadly, we don’t see Boba Fett again in this episode so his reappearance will have to wait for a later date.
As for Mando, he runs into problems on his way back after a trio of bounty hunters coming after the child manage to get the drop on him by taking down his speeder. Mando eventually fights off two of the bounty hunters but the third is holding a knife to Baby Yoda’s throat in order to survive this deadly encounter.
Mando opts to bargain with the bounty hunter by offering up his jetpack in exchange for Baby Yoda’s life. The bounty hunter agrees and hands over the child while taking the jetpack for his own.
A second after the exchange is made, Mando activates the jetpack, flies it into the air and a few moments later the bounty hunter falls back down to the ground where he meets his own death. Mando retrieves the jetpack along with Baby Yoda and whatever he can salvage from the wreckage of the speeder to begin the long walk back to Mos Eisley.
Once he finally arrives, Mando finds his favorite desert mechanic Peli Motto engaged in a card game with an insect creature named Dr. Mandible.
It seems Dr. Mandible might have additional information on where to find a Mandalorian but his price requires Mando to place a bet for him, which he promptly loses to Peli Motto.
He then informs Mando that his contact with information about the Mandalorian will meet him at the hangar later that night.
After returning to Peli Motto’s workshop — where they cook up some delicious krayt dragon meat as a spoil of war from last week’s episode — Mando finds out what it’s going to cost him to track down more Mandalorians. Peli Motto introduces him to Frog Lady — a creature that looks just like her namesake — and it seems she needs to rendezvous with her husband on a planet called Trask where she needs to get her eggs fertilized or her family line will die.
The one catch to giving Frog Lady passage to this planet — Mando can’t travel by hyperspace because that would cause her eggs to die.
Mando reluctantly agrees to give her safe passage to Trask where her husband will pass along the information about the other Mandalorians.
After leaving Tatooine on the Razor Crest, Mando prepares for a very long trip considering he can’t travel through hyperspace. Along the way, Mando finds out that Baby Yoda has a taste for Frog Lady’s eggs after he catches him snacking on one of them in the hull of the ship.
Eventually, Mando and Baby Yoda lay down for a nap but their shared slumber is interrupted when the Razor Crest receives warning signals that two ships are approaching. A pair of X-wing fighters flank the Razor Crest and they begin hailing Mando asking for identification in order to verify that he’s not an Imperial.
Mando does his best to talk his way out of the situation but now that this sector is under New Republic rule, the X-wing pilots are monitoring for any remaining remnants of the Galactic Empire. When he can’t provide the proper identification, Mando decides to run for it as he plunges the ship towards the next closest planet with the X-wing fighters in hot pursuit.
Eventually, Mando escapes after diving through a canyon and through an opening on a giant glacier after landing on an ice planet. Unfortunately, Mando ends up crash landing after setting the Razor Crest down on an uneven surface and the entire ship crashes down to the bottom of the surface.
Thankfully, Mando and Frog Lady survive the crash while Baby Yoda decides to take this opportunity to snack on another of those delicious eggs. Mando has a lot of repairs to do in order to get the ship back up and running again but first he decides to rest.
The Frog Lady manages to hotwire one of the droids on board in order to communicate with him and tells Mando that her eggs won’t survive another day in the cold. With options limited, Mando opts to begin repairs on his shop so they can take off sooner rather than later.
While he’s doing his best to seal up the breaches in the hull, Frog Lady leaves the ship and decides to go for a warm bath in a nearby hot springs. Mando discovers her missing before tracking Frog Lady down where he finds her bathing with the eggs in order to preserve them even better.
As Mando helps Frog Lady gather up her eggs, Baby Yoda’s never ending hunger leads him to a different pile of eggs decorating the icy surface in the cavern where the hot springs are located. Baby Yoda opens up one of the eggs and snacks on the larva inside but that triggers all of the nearby eggs to begin springing open after being disturbed.
Instead of a bunch of face huggers emerging for the “Alien” and “Star Wars” crossover we’ve all been waiting for, ice spiders begin crawling out of the eggs. More and more appear along with their bigger and nastier family members including one quite gigantic spider that’s none too happy that Mando and Frog Lady have invaded their lair.
Mando quickly shoots his way out of the icy passage while carrying Baby Yoda and Frog Lady literally hopping beside them. They make their way back to the ship with the spiders chasing them each step of the way.
The spiders burst into the Razor Crest, which forces Mando to make his way into the cockpit where he finally seals the deal behind him. It’s the last safe place where the spiders haven’t invaded and he begins to prepare to take off in order to escape the surface.
Just as the ship takes off, the giant ice spider mother jumps down on the Razor Crest, crashing them back down to the ground. Mando appears out of ideas with a path to escape as the giant mother spider begins slamming into the front of the ship in order to break through the glass.
Just when it appears Mando and his passengers will meet their demise, laser blasts ring out as the mother spider and all of her hatchlings are destroyed. Mando cuts through the webs left in his ship while killing the final remnants of the spider babies before emerging outside the ship.
There he finds the X-wing fighters have returned and located him.
The X-wing pilots took out the spiders and saved Mando from eminent death. They reveal that after running Mando’s identification tags that he was responsible for a prison break at a New Republic facility.
If you remember in “The Mandalorian” season 1 when Mando teams up with a group of mercenaries to break into a holding facility to break out a prisoner. The mercenaries kill the lone New Republic guard and then turn on Mando, trapping him inside the facility as New Republic forces are dispatched to the prison.
Mando eventually escaped and security footage inside the facility showed that he tried to stop the mercenaries from killing the New Republic guard.
Back on the ice planet, the X-wing fighter pilots tell Mando that there’s an arrest warrant out for him after that incident but because he tried to save the guard’s life along with three high profile warrants he delivered by stopping the rest of the mercenaries, they decide to let him go. The X-wing fighters take off from the ice planet while Mando does his best to seal up the holes in his ship in order to escape.
Back in space, Mando puts the ship on cruise control as they move forward towards the destination with the Razor Crest looking like it’s just gone through a battle with a giant ice spider. As everyone doses off to sleep, Baby Yoda snacks down on one more egg that he managed to steal from Frog Lady as the episode comes to an end.
“The Mandalorian” returns for a brand new episode next Friday on Disney+
