AMC has given the green light to a new late night talk show tentatively titled Geeking Out that will feature writer/director Kevin Smith and Heroes actor Greg Grunberg together while breaking down the latest in pop culture and geek news.
The show will feature nerd banter, clips, interviews and much more — for Smith fans out there it sound suspiciously like his podcast Fatman on Batman but made for TV with Greg Grunberg as his co-host.
“AMC has been my TV family for five seasons of ‘Comic Book Men’ now, so I know that ‘Geeking Out’ is in the perfect, fan-friendly network hands,” said Smith. “I can’t wait to lose fluids on the airwaves of my favorite channel over the genre gems we’re gonna get insider access to due to gregarious Greg’s bonafides! And to make it even more of a family affair, ‘Geeking Out’ lets me work with the Weinsteins again – the two guys who started my career 22 years ago! I’m lucky to be working at all, let alone working with friends and family on a dream show where all we do is talk about all the media that makes us moist!”
Smith has worked with AMC for the past few years as the co-creator and executive producer behind Comic Book Men, which remains the only other non-scripted series the network continues to produce.
The debut date for Geeking Out is still to be determined, but the expected launch will be in late July with an episode dedicated to San Diego Comic Con 2016, which Smith is a regular fixture at every year.
Stay tuned for more updates on as they become available.
