From the nominees to the predictions, the winners and the red carpet fashion, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, known to many as The Oscars, is a spectacular event for those in the film industry.
The 89th Annual Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on February 26, 2017 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the home of Hollywood. This year’s event will be hosted by longtime ABC late night host of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show, Jimmy Kimmel. Recognizing excellence in cinematic achievements, the 2017 nominees highlight the past year’s greatest films, filmmakers, actors, and producers. The ceremony, which is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony, will broadcast live in more than 200 countries. A live stream will also be available online at oscar.go.com. To date, more than 3,000 Oscars have been awarded from the inception of the award.
From the coveted Best Picture to best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role, the odds for this years winners range from narrow to very wide. With names like Casey Affleck, Andrew Garfield, Ryan Gosling, Viggo Mortensen and Denzel Washington in the running for Best Actor and Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep for Best Actress; the competition is tight. Best Picture for the 89th Annual Oscar’s will go to Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea or Moonlight. The glitz, glamour and prestige begins LIVE on ACB starting at 7:00 PM ET / 4:00 PM PT on Oscar Sunday, February 26, 2017 on ABC.
