Ever been curious to see how exactly the characters from ‘Banshee’ came to be? Well Cinemax is offering a unique look into the show’s origins…

Imagine being privy to additional footage of characters and story lines from your favorite TV show. How about being able to watch full scenes on how each character developed over the course of time prior to the shows existence?
That is what the creative team of Cinemax’s hit show Banshee have made possible for their viewers “with Banshee Origins.” An avant garde, original, revolutionary and quite frankly, vastly ahead of the curve delivery method of extra material, “Banshee Origins” are a series of vignettes that serve as a companion piece to the actual storylines that are currently taking place on the show. Each video offers a different tale with a different character, painting a clearer or in some cases murkier picture of the Amish town filled with secrets.
“Find out the story before the story”—the tagline on welcometoBanshee.com where you can find the Season 1 Origins series
The story that Banshee began with in its first season was that of a master thief being released from jail after serving 15 years of his life. He then assumes the identity of the incumbent sheriff, Lucas Hood, who was killed in a bar robbery.
All the “Origins scenes”, all take place at different times throughout that 15-year time period. All the scenes from the first season can scene at welcometoBanshee.com. The second season Origins are out now on the official Cinemax Youtube channel.
“Interrogation” is the scene we will take a look at in this article, as it has a major plot development in this seasons story line with the main character Lucas Hood, and one of the newest characters of Banshee.
The scene takes place after Hood—who as we know has no real name, at least not one we are aware of—is arrested some 15 years ago for the attempted robbery of Ukrainian gangster, Rabbit’s diamonds. As all interrogation rooms go, especially the ones in TV shows and movies, there is always a man behind the glass who watches what’s happening.
In last week’s debut episode of Season 2 “Little Fish,” Special Agent Racine takes a long hard look at Sheriff Hood as they are introduced prior to the closed federal hearing. The chain-smoking fed wasn’t just gazing at Hood’s brooding looks; he seemed to be having déjà vu. The reason? Probably because he was the agent behind the glass in the interrogation room 15 years ago!
Yes, that’s right. A major discovery on the back-story of Hood and the newest character on the show, and you find out about it on a Youtube clip, not the show. That’s not all. We also hear more about Hood’s reputation for having hand-to-hand combat skills and that the police were not aware of his identity even then. In a funny moment, and never being without wit or humor, Hood outsmarts the interrogating cop and gets him to fetch him a NY deli sandwich.
We know that it’s Rabbit who Racine is after, and Hood is just a cog in the wheel, but the fact that he knows who Hood really is, will make this season all the more interesting.
Keep it locked to Nerdcore Movement for a recap on Episode 2: “The Thunder Man” this weekend.
