Amy Smart says her character on ‘Justified’ is drawn to Raylan but he needs to get his shit together…
One of the new faces on ‘Justified‘ this season comes by way of veteran actress Amy Smart, who joins the cast as Allison Brander, a social worker who meets Raylan after Loretta McCready runs afoul of the law.
From playful banter to a pants-less jaunt up the stairs, Allison has landed right in Raylan’s field of vision and appears to be the ying to his yang this season. Executive producer and show runner Graham Yost actually stated recently that the character of Allison Brander wasn’t meant to be a full time cast member this season, but after seeing Amy Smart’s performance, he was drawn to add more for her to do.
Now after the latest episode where Allison and Raylan almost jump into bed before dealing with a father who is stalking the social worker after she pulled his son out of his home and away from his family when she discovered he was a meth dealer.
There’s a touch of distrust already existing between Raylan and Allison, but plenty of magnetism as well.
“She comes into this whole world that Raylan Givens lives in, and is a little apprehensive at the beginning because he doesn’t really have a great track record with women, and also has this child in Florida. I think she really likes him, but wants him to get his shit together,” Smart said in a recent interview.
To say Raylan has a bad track record with women is like saying Dewey Crowe only dabbles in whores. The fact is Raylan can’t seem to find a decent relationship without bringing the office home with him — in other words he seems to attract a criminal element.
Allison will be back next episode but is she just the latest in a long line of bad choices for Raylan or is she the woman to make him move past Winona and focus on the future?
