Film and television notable Bill Paxton has joined the cast of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD for at least four episodes that will begin airing in late February/early March…
Bill Paxton — best known for roles in ‘Big Love’, ‘Twister’, ‘Hatfields & McCoys, and ‘Aliens’ — will suit up for a multi episode arc in an upcoming series of episodes on ABC’s Agents of SHIELD.
According to TVGuide.com, Paxton will play Agent John Garrett, a former associate of Agent Coulson who will work directly with Agent Ward and Agent May on some upcoming cases.
In the comics, John Garrett is a former member of SHIELD who almost dies in an a horrific explosion set up by the assassin Elektra, but instead of dying he is brought back to life after most of his body is converted to machine and cybernetic technology. Paxton’s version of Garrett is supposed to give Coulson some glimpse into his past or future so this could be a way to begin explaining what happened to him after the events in The Avengers movie.
Paxton’s arc on Agents of SHIELD is expected to begin in late February/early March.
