The new season of ‘Doctor Who’ debuts on August 23 with a special pre and post show as well as some special movie theater appearances…
The upcoming season of Doctor Who will begin the reign of the 12th doctor in the series as Peter Capaldi takes over the role from Matt Smith and BBC America is planning a huge series of events leading up to August 23.
First up, the BBC will present Doctor Who: The Ultimate Companion on August 16 and Doctor Who: Ultimate Time Lord on August 18 ahead of the August 23 debut for the new season.
On Saturday, August 23 things get even bigger with a pre and post show planned for the season debut — at 7:30pm ET, a special called ‘Doctor Who: Live Pre-Show’ will preview the upcoming season with Chris Hardwick (is there nobody else available to do these things?) acting as host. Once the new episode titled ‘Deep Breath’ airs, the BBC will present ‘Doctor Who: After Who Live at 11 with a post show, guests and a review of the first look at the new season.
In addition to all this going on, BBC will also work with Fathom Events to bring the debut episode of the new season of Doctor Who to the big screen with 12 cities getting a midnight airing of the first episode on August 23 followed the next day by screenings in 550 theaters across the country.
