A series focused on Nick Fury is reportedly in the works at Disney+ with Samuel L. Jackson reprising his iconic role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
Samuel L. Jackson is apparently ready to put the eye patch back on again.
According to a report from Variety, Marvel is currently working on a new series for Disney+ that would see Jackson return for a starring role in a “Nick Fury” focused show for the streaming service.
Jackson has played the former leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. in numerous movies throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe all the way back to his first appearance in a post-credit scene in 2008’s “Iron Man.”
Since that time, Jackson has appeared in numerous Marvel movies including a major role in 2012’s “The Avengers” as well as “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and even as recently as “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
The last time Fury was seen in a Marvel movie came in a post-credits scene in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” where it was revealed he was on a Skrull ship somewhere in the deep reaches of outer space.
Kyle Bradstreet, who was a writer and executive producer on the award winning USA Network series “Mr. Robot,” is reportedly heading up the project at Marvel Studios.
If this project goes to series, which seems likely, it would be Jackson’s first starring role on television after making dozens of appearances in numerous different shows over the years. Of course, Jackson is best known for his long list of movie roles including frequent collaborations with Quentin Tarantino with films such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Jackie Brown,” “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight.”
In addition to those roles, Jackson appeared in three “Star Wars” prequels as well as a pair of movies from M. Night Shyamalan — “Unbreakable” and “Glass” — and memorable roles in films such as “A Time to Kill” and “Do The Right Thing,” which was one of several appearances he made in films directed by Spike Lee.
At this time, Marvel has not made any official announcement about the potential project but it’s well known that the studio is expected to have a heavy presence with the new Disney+ streaming service. Several shows are already in the works including “She-Hulk,” “Ms. Marvel,” and “Moon Knight” and landing an A-list star like Jackson for his own series would be a huge addition to the streaming service.
