The upcoming ‘Supergirl’ series from CBS will be an ambitious jump for the network as they try to cash in on the growing superhero market and the cast for the show continues to grow by the day. The latest additions include the key villain for the series as well as a family member for Supergirl. David Harewood — best known for playing David Estes in the first two seasons of ‘Homeland’ — will play Hank Henshaw, the primary antagonist on the first season of the series. Based in the ‘Supergirl’ universe, Henshaw is a former CIA operative who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations, which tracks extraterrestrial threats on planet Earth. Meanwhile, Chyler Leigh — best known for her work on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ — will play Alexandra ‘Alex’ Danvers, who is Kara Zor-El’s foster sister. Alex has been obsessed with Kara’s powers since a young age and became so interested in the science behind it all she ended up as a doctor. ‘Supergirl’ has already been ordered to series from CBS with Melissa Benoist in the lead role.
