Following a breakout freshman year, ‘The Leftovers’ season 2 will be moving from New York to Texas….
The sleepy little town of Mapleton, New York had plenty to deal with during the first season of ‘The Leftovers’ with everything from wild packs of dogs running around town to a white-wearing cult called the Guilty Remnant battling with locals whenever they needed a reminder that two-percent of the world’s population was blinked out in an instant three years ago.
With so much tragedy surrounding this town in season one, it appears ‘The Leftovers’ will pick up shop and move down south for season 2 kicking off this summer.
‘The Leftovers’ season 2 will take place in Texas this season instead of New York with about half the original cast being dropped for the sophomore effort from creators Tom Perrotta and Damon Lindelof.
The show will be filmed in Austin, Texas although there will surely be a fictional name for the new town in the series just like Mapleton was for New York.
The returning cast members this season include Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Christopher Eccleston and Carrie Coon. The rest of the cast from the first season including Liv Tyler are not expected to appear in ‘The Leftovers’ season 2.
