True Blood will officially come to an end after season 7 comes to a close, but one character with an arc coming up in the new year will have a new actor playing the part…
Luke Grimes — who came to notoriety during season 6 of ‘True Blood‘ as James, one of the captured vampires under the thumb of the Governor of Louisiana — will leave the show after disagreements about the direction of his character.
The news of his departure was first reported by TVLine.com.
Grimes joined the show for a handful of episodes in season 6 with a bigger story arc expected for the final season. Originally, the character of James was put into a ‘relationship’ with Jessica (played by Deborah Ann Woll) but apparently the actor didn’t like the direction his role would be taken this season so he asked to be released from his contract.
HBO later confirmed Grimes’ departure from the show.
As of now, ‘True Blood‘ executives have not mentioned any possible actors in line for the role, but with filming firing up in the next few months with the show debuting in early summer 2014, HBO will likely move fast to find a replacement.
