The upcoming science fiction story about a theme park where robots go haywire and start killing the patrons has been picked up for a full season order at HBO….
“Westworld” — based on the original motion picture by Michael Crichton — has been given a full series order from HBO with a debut date at some point in 2015.
The show focuses on a theme park run by Dr. Robert Ford (played by Anthony Hopkins) where robots interact with guests and allow them to fantasy role play in different eras from throughout time. When something goes haywire and the robots begin killing the patrons, all hell breaks loose.
The tagline for the series states: “Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin”
The show is being executive produced by “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams and stars Hopkins alongside Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, Simon Quarterman.
There is no word on how many episodes will comprise the first season of “Westworld” according to representatives from HBO who spoke to NerdcoreMovement.com on Monday.
