Comic books are going through a new golden age of popularity. Characters are hugely popular, and the success of comic book movies has spurred a new generation of readers. Thanks to technology, how people read comic books has changed a lot over the years. Sure, you can still buy a physical comic, but many people these days are turning to digital comic readers.

Comic book characters are now a part of our popular culture and permeate into all forms of entertainment. We’ve already mentioned the success of comic book movies, but we can also find the like of Batman and Spider-Man on other media. For example, comic books are popular at online casinos and often used for promotions. Speaking of promotions, a good way to get the most out of lottery games is to pick up a promo code before playing.

There are dozens of good comic book readers available for mobile devices, but when looking at PC there are fewer options. Of course, this reflects a shift in device usage to smartphones over the last decade. Still, millions of people still use PCs and want to be able to read comics on desktop. With that in mind, here are our picks for the best comic book readers for PC:

  1. MComix

There are a few things that stand out about MComix, including the fact it is an open-source product which does not need a download. That adds some security because you only ever use the software in your browser. Of course, there is a downside because you need to be connected to the internet, but MComix makes up for that by being easy to use.

It’s easy to understand how to change the height and width of a comic, or just choose the full screen mode. MComix uses a PDF-style interface for laying out its comics, which makes reading simple and efficient. Some cool features included on the web app are scrolling customizations and UI customization.

  1. ComicRack

If you’re looking for a complete and technical comic book reader for PC, then ComicRack is a good choice. It supports a wide range of file types, including PDF, RAR, ZIP, CBR, and many more. Using a tabbed interface, the app can even select more than one comic and have them open at the same time.

In terms of features, ComicRack is perhaps the richest desktop reader. It boasts bookmarks, hotkeys, and can tap into your personal library. That means if you have a large collection of digital comics, ComicRack can help you access them through its excellent file management options. As this is such a powerful tool, it does take some time to get used to all the available features.

  1. CDisplayEx

If you’re a newcomer to comic book readers and just want a simple program to get you started, then CDisplayEx could be the app for you. In fact, if you only care about reading this may be all the reader you ever need. It’s fast, light, and easy to use, allowing you to open comics and read without any distractions. To highlight this, comics open into a simple white window.

There are features available if you dig through the toolbars, but this is a reading-first app that puts access to comics at the forefront.
