The first full length trailer for ‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 debuted at San Diego Comic Con and we’ve got all the details…
‘The Walking Dead’ will return on Sunday, October 22 as season 8 will unleash a famous storyline from the comic books known as “All Out War” as Rick Grimes leads his survivors against Negan and his band of Saviors.
The new trailer that debuted at San Diego Comic Con on Friday gave a look at what lies ahead and Rick gathers his troops after befriending communities at both the Hilltop and the Kingdom to team together to take down Negan.
Now perhaps the most interesting part of the trailer came during the post scene at the end when the camera panned past a cane and then found an older Rick Grimes laying in bed, his hair a little thinner and his beard much longer and turned completely grey.
This hint might give an indication of what lies ahead during ‘The Walking Dead’ season 8.
Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read the comic books (and of course note that the series doesn’t necessarily always follow the source material).
In the comics, Rick and the survivors battle Negan and his Saviors for quite some time in a battle called “All Out War”. In the end, Rick and his forces are able to defeat Negan but not without some serious damage done. Rick is shot with an arrow at one point and his leg is broken during the final fight, but ultimately he comes out on top as he takes down Negan once and for all.
Following the conclusion of the war, “The Walking Dead” does a time jump several years into the future and while it’s not specific in the comics, it’s at least a couple of years past the fight with Negan and the Saviors. At that time, Rick is much older with a full length beard and thanks to the broken leg he suffered, he now walks with a cane.
If the trailer is any indication, “All Out War” will likely eat up the majority of “The Walking Dead’ season 8 before a potential time jump forward at the end of the year.
“The Walking Dead” returns on Sunday night, October 22 on AMC.
