Vincent D’Onofrio is reprising his role as ‘The Kingpin’ for ‘Daredevil’ season 3…
The Kingpin is back.
Vincent D’Onofrio is returning for ‘Daredevil’ season 3 as he reprises his role as Wilson Fisk after serving as the main antagonist during the first season as well as making a guest appearance in season 2 as well.
D’Onofrio has been rumored to make his return to ‘Daredevil’ but nothing was officially confirmed until Wednesday.
D’Onofrio had a stand out performance as the menacing Kingpin of Hell’s Kitchen during the first season of ‘Daredevil’ so his return will certainly be welcomed by fans.
In addition to D’Onofrio returning to the series, ‘Daredevil’ season 3 will also introduce a new show runner as Erik Oleson takes over for Marco Ramirez and Douglas Petrie, who led the show during season 2 as well as taking the reigns of the recent series ‘The Defenders’.
“Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk,” Marvel television chief Jeph Loeb told Deadline. “We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.”
Oleson is actually the third show runner on ‘Daredevil’ after Drew Goddard helped to develop the series with Steven S. DeKnight serving as show runner for the first season. He exited to begin work on the upcoming ‘Pacific Rim’ sequel and that’s where Ramirez and Petrie took over. Now they are out as well with Oleson stepping into the show runner’s role for season 3.
Oleson previously worked on ‘Arrow’ so he has a history in superhero series as well as working as an executive producer and writer on Amazon’s highly acclaimed series ‘The Man in the High Castle’.
As of now neither Marvel nor Netflix have made any announcements regarding when ‘Daredevil’ season 3 will debut but it’s most likely in 2018 along with ‘Jessica Jones’ season 2 as well as ‘Luke Cage’ season 2.
