Amazon’s straight to order series ‘The Boys’ has found a big part of its cast including the former lead star from ‘Banshee’…
Amazon is picking up steam on their straight to series order for ‘The Boys’ based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson with a ton of new casting just announced.
‘The Boys’ isn’t your typical take on a comic book series as this story is set in an alternate universe where the heroes have started to allow celebrity and fame corrupt them and they start committing all sorts of atrocious acts so that forces a group of CIA operatives known as ‘The Boys’ to keep them under control
Antony Starr — best known for his role in the Cinemax series ‘Banshee’ — will play Homelander, the leader of ‘The Seven’, the main superhero team in the series. Homelander is ‘The Boys’ answer to Superman as the most powerful of all the superheroes.
Dominique McElligott — best known for ‘House of Cards’ — will play Queen Maeve, another member of ‘The Seven’.
Jessie T. Usher — best known for ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ — plays A-Train, another member of ‘The Seven’.
Chace Crawford — from ‘Gossip Girl’ — will play the Deep, an aquatic hero and member of ‘The Seven’.
Nathan Mitchell — from ‘iZombie’ — will play Black Noir, another key member of ‘The Seven’.
The series is being developed by Eric Kripke, who also created ‘Supernatural’ as well as ‘Timeless’ with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg set to direct. Rogen and Goldberg are responsible for adapting and developing another of Ennis’ series with ‘Preacher’ on AMC.
