There’s another star from ‘The Walking Dead’ heading over to ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ with Austin Amelio joining the show in season 5…
The latest crossover between ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ has been revealed as Austin Amelio — who plays former Savior turned traitor Dwight — will be joining the show in season 5.
The news of Amelio’s move comes after Lennie James switched from ‘The Walking Dead’ to ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ last season.
While there’s no word yet on how major of a role Amelio’s character Dwight will play on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, rumors are he may be taking on a bigger part just like James did with his character Morgan, who became a central cast member last season.
Amelio exited ‘The Walking Dead’ at the end of season 8 after his character helped Rick Grimes and the rest of the communities bring down Negan and the Saviors. Unfortunately, Dwight was still not a very popular person after he killed Denise a few seasons back so allowing him to stay part of the community didn’t seem like a popular decision.
Ultimately it was Daryl who allowed Dwight to leave unharmed while warning him never to come back to Alexandria, so he set off on his motorcycle in hopes of reuniting with his wife Sherry, who left previously after she was forced to become Negan’s wife as penance after they attempted to escape his control.
Now it appears Dwight will run into a different group of survivors on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, which featured a revamped cast last season after original series stars Kim Dickens and Frank Dillane both left the show.
It’s unknown at this time when and where Dwight will show up but ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ is working on a different timeline than ‘The Walking Dead’ after the main series did a major time jump following the exit of Andrew Lincoln from the show during season 9.
‘Fear the Walking Dead’ will return to AMC this spring with a release date still to be determined.
