HBO will celebrate the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ as well as season 3 of ‘Westworld’ at San Diego Comic Con 2019…
There will be one last time to celebrate the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ with many of the show’s stars set to appear during a panel at San Diego Comic Con in July.
On Thursday, HBO officially announced plans to bring ‘Game of Thrones’ back despite the final season already wrapping up in May. ‘Game of Thrones’ was one of the biggest and most popular panels at the yearly convention but HBO skipped out in 2018 because the show was still filming and there was no word yet on when the last episodes would air.
Now HBO will be reviving ‘Game of Thrones’ for one last celebration with many cast members as well as showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss scheduled to appear. That is notable considering neither of them have done any interviews since ‘Game of Thrones’ ended a few weeks ago.
Friday, July 19
The GAME OF THRONES panel in Hall H at 5:30 p.m. will include cast members (in alphabetical order): Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei of Naath), Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont), Conleth Hill (Varys), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark). Other panelists include creators and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and director and executive producer Miguel Sapochnik.
In addition to ‘Game of Thrones’, HBO will bring ‘Westworld’ back in anticipation of season 3 of the show set to debut in 2020.
‘Westworld’ made a previous appearance at San Diego Comic Con in 2017 but then skipped out on the 2018 convention because the show had already aired with season 3 not in production yet.
Now ‘Westworld’ returns with HBO almost assuredly showing off some new footage with from season 3 where ‘Breaking Bad’ star Aaron Paul joins the show as a series regular.
Saturday, July 20
The WESTWORLD panel in Hall H at 1:15 p.m. will include creators, executive producers and directors Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and cast members (in alphabetical order): Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Aaron Paul, Tessa Thompson, Evan Rachel Wood and Jeffrey Wright.
Finally, HBO will also bring ‘His Dark Materials’ to San Diego Comic Con this year in anticipation of that show debuting as well. Unfortunately, HBO won’t be bringing ‘Watchmen’, although the network teased activations happening around San Diego that will begin promoting the new series from creator Damon Lindelof.
Thursday, July 18
The HIS DARK MATERIALS panel in Hall H at 4:45 p.m. will include (in alphabetical order): James McAvoy (Lord Asriel), Dafne Keen (Lyra), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Lee Scoresby), Jane Tranter (executive producer) and Ruth Wilson (Mrs. Coulter).
