Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford are both leaving ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ during the upcoming fifth season on the CW…
‘Legends of Tomorrow’ will soon be losing two members.
Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford — who portray Ray Palmer/The Atom and Nora Dahrk — will be leaving the CW superhero series during season 5.
“Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” executive producers Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree, and Keto Shimizu said in a statement to Deadline. “They have always brought a level passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen — that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”
Routh and Ford are real life husband and wife and they’ve been starring on the show together since season 3. Routh has been a main cast member on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ since the show first launched while Ford became a series regular a season ago.
Now both are leaving the series with a very important fifth season starting this year with the epic ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover kicking off in December and then concluding in January.
It’s unknown at this time if Routh and Ford are exiting ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ because their characters may perish during the crossover event or if they will just be leaving the series with a possibility of returning in guest starring roles in the future. The producers of the series commented that it’s possible ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ could run into Routh or Ford’s character in the future but that could just be a smokescreen to the events that will unfold during ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’.
Obviously, the CW would never comment on Routh and Ford permanently leaving the show with the upcoming crossover as one of the most highly anticipated events in the CW ‘Arrow-verse’ history.
Routh will be playing multiple roles during the upcoming ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover as he will also play Superman from an alternate universe after playing the Man of Steel in the 2006 film ‘Superman Returns’.
