The first trailer for ‘Stargirl’ has arrived as the latest superhero series prepares to land on The CW and the DC Universe app in 2020…
There’s a ‘Stargirl’ waiting in the sky.
A new series based on the comic creation of prolific writer Geoff Johns is coming to the DC Universe app and the CW in 2020 and the first trailer arrived on the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” aftermath show on Tuesday night.
Johns will serve as the showrunner on the series from a character he first created back in 1999 as an homage to his sister, who died in a plane explosion three years earlier.
“Stargirl” “follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.”
“Stargirl” also co-stars Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Trae Romano as well as Neil Jackson and Hunter Sansone.
The series will initially air on the DC Universe app and then on the CW the next night in a first of its kind broadcast deal for the show. It’s unknown if “Stargirl” will ultimately interact with any of the current DC Universe series such as “Titans” or perhaps crossover into the “Arrowverse” but the CW has another superhero series on its hands when the show debuts in Spring 2020.
