Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson will look to revive a horror franchise when they star in the latest installment in the “Saw” series…
The “Saw” franchise has produced a ton of forgettable sequels over the years but Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson will look to bring new life to the horror franchise with their roles in the upcoming sequel.
“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” — with the new trailer above — was an idea spawned from Rock, who is a huge fan of the franchise, and now he will star in the upcoming film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who also helmed “Saw II,” “Saw III,” and “Saw IV.”
Rock came up with the original story and now he will team up with Jackson as a pair of veteran detectives, who are investigating a series of brutal murders that bare a striking resemblance to the original Jigsaw killer. Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
“A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”
The newest installment in the “Saw” franchise will land in theaters on May 15, 2020 but the first trailer for the upcoming film has already arrived. Check it out above and get ready for Jigsaw to be reborn later this year.
