The latest series from Amazon Prime titled “Utopia” will see what happens when a group of comic book nerds discovers the stories they love are actually predicting conspiracies taking place in the real world…
Over seven years in the works, Amazon Prime will finally debut “Utopia” later this year from Gillian Flynn, who is also the author behind such popular books as “Gone Girl” and “Sharp Objects.”
Originally a BBC series that began airing back in 2012, the American version of “Utopia” follows a group of comic book loving friends, who begin to discover that stories from their favorite graphic novel are happening in the real world. The friends begin discovering all sorts of connections to real life events — including a viral pandemic — that threaten the world. They also happen upon one more piece of shocking information — the lead character in the graphic novel is a real person named Jessica Hyde.
Here’s the official synopsis from Amazon Prime:
A twisted, eight-episode thriller about a group of young comic fans who discover the conspiracy in a graphic novel is real, and embark on a high-stakes adventure to save humanity from the end of the world.
The cast of the show includes John Cusack (High Fidelity), Rainn Wilson (The Office), Sasha Lane (American Honey), Ashleigh LaThrop (Fifty Shades Freed), Dan Byrd (Cougar Town), Desmin Borges (You’re The Worst), Javon “Wanna” Walton (Euphoria), and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day).
