The “Arrow” spinoff series that was expected to take place in a futuristic setting featuring Oliver Queen’s daughter is no longer moving forward at the CW…
“Arrow” will maintain an important legacy on The CW but the series will not produce another spinoff as originally planned.
“Green Arrow and the Canaries” — a show that was set to center around Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak’s daughter Mia — will no longer move forward at the network after the spinoff was first rumored in 2019.
An episode of the same name took place during the final season of “Arrow” that stood as a backdoor pilot for the series, which took place two decades after the original series ended. The show was set to star Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak alongside Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake.
Unfortunately, plans for the series have now been shelved.
While “Green Arrow and the Canaries” is no longer happening, The CW has plenty more DC related series in the works including a new show titled “Naomi” with Ava DuVernay on board to produce as well as a spinoff series called “Painkiller” that’s set in the same universe as “Black Lightning.”
The CW is still producing “The Flash,” which was a spinoff from “Arrow” several years ago as well as “Legends of Tomorrow” and a new series coming in February titled “Superman & Lois.” Two more CW series will be coming to an end in 2021, however, as “Supergirl” and “Black Lightning” will both enter into their final seasons this year.
