The first look at “House of the Dragon” — the highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” prequel — has arrived with footage from the upcoming season…
Gods. Kings. Fire. Blood.
That’s the teaser as an all new battle for the Iron Throne will begin when “House of the Dragon” debuts in 2022.
On Tuesday, HBO released a surprise teaser trailer for the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel that will document the infamous Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Set 200 years before the events in “Game of Thrones,” the new series “House of the Dragon” will pit Targaryen against Targaryen as battle lines are draw once King Viserys I Targaryen dies but before his death he had declared that his daughter Rhaenyra would take his place and serve as the first Queen on the Seven Kingdoms.
That didn’t sit too well with the patriarchy around the kingdoms much less the King’s wife Alicent Hightower, who gave birth to several children including the male heir she believes should be the one to rule following his father’s death.
That’s what sparks an epic war between the Targaryens as each side attempts to capture the Iron Throne — and this also happens to be the moment when the majority of dragons in the world meet an untimely demise.
