Ahead of “Stranger Things” season 4 dropping on Netflix on Friday, the first eight minutes from the debut episode have already been revealed with a trip back through time to show exactly how much power Eleven possesses.
The scene takes place in 1979 — several years before the show begins — with a focus on Dr. Martin Brenner, who is conducting experiments on the children at the Hawkins National Laboratories. During one such test with a child named Ten, he’s testing the boy’s telepathy and that’s when a massacre starts to unfold throughout the hospital.
The scene ends with Dr. Brenner being confronted by an angry and bloody Eleven, who appears to exert all of her powers — but for what reason we don’t know quite yet.
Of course, when “Stranger Things” season 4 begins Eleven has left Hawkins and she’s starting a new life in California alongside the Byers family, who relocated following the tragic end in season 3 when Joyce thought Jim Hopper died stopping the Russian machine attempting to cut through to the Upside Down.
Eleven is also without her powers following a battle with Mind Flayer that left her hurt.
For now, check out the full 8 minute opening for “Stranger Things” season 4 and get ready for the show to return with the first seven episodes dropping on Friday, May 27 with the final two episodes — which total a whopping 4.5 hours of run time — that drops on July 1.
