“The Boys” season 4 will feature Homelander’s son Ryan a lot more after Cameron Crovetti was upped to a series regular role along with two new cast members added…
Homelander’s son Ryan will have a much bigger role to play in “The Boys” season 4.
Cameron Crovetti — who portrays Homelander’s son Ryan — has been upped to a series regular for the upcoming fourth season of the Amazon Prime series. Crovetti had previously appeared in a recurring role in both season 2 and season 3 but earning series regular status means he’ll be appearing in many of the eight episodes comprising season 4.
When “The Boys” season 3 ended, Ryan made his choice to join his father Homelander to make a new family and he enjoyed watching dear old dad laser through a protester who threw a drink at him during a rally. Of course, Ryan has already shown his powers are expanding and it’s possible he could end up being even stronger than Homelander.
Prior to the reunion with his father, Ryan had grown attached to Billy Butcher but that relationship was severed when the always gruff leader of The Boys lashed out at the child and essentially blamed him for the death of his wife and Ryan’s mother, Becca Butcher.
While Ryan joining up with Homelander doesn’t seem to bode well for anybody, “The Boys” creator and showrunner Eric Kripke promises his story is far from finished.
“So much of finales are like pilots for the next season, and we really wanted to set up this battle for Ryan’s soul,” Kripke told EW. “I don’t think the game’s over yet.
“I think [Ryan] saw this one thing and I think we should all be afraid because if he becomes another Homelander, that’s obviously really bad for the planet. But he’s still Becca’s kid and there’s still a shot that Butcher can pull him into the light.”
In addition to Crovetti being upped to a series regular in season 4, “The Boys” has also added two more cast members playing a pair of new Supes.
Valorie Curry — best known for her past roles in “The Lost Symbol” as well as “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” — has been cast as a new Supe named Firecracker and Susan Heyward — who previously appeared on “Orange is the New Black” — has been cast as Sister Sage.
Neither character was from the original comic books so it remains to be seen what kind of a role they’ll be playing in “The Boys” season 4.
Production on “The Boys” season 4 is expected to get started in August but there’s no timeline yet when the show will return to Amazon Prime.
