Stephen Amell will pick up his bow and quiver as the Green Arrow one more time for an appearance during the final season of “The Flash”…
Stephen Amell will play Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow one last time.
The actor has been confirmed to return and reprise the role he played for eight seasons and 170 episodes when he appears on the ninth and final season of “The Flash,” which debuts on February 8 on The CW.
Amell is scheduled to appear in episode 9, which will be directed by series regular Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost).
“As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen,” ‘The Flash’ showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement. “After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen on his heroic path. That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of ‘The Flash.’
“The result is an epic-yet-emotional episode we hope Arrowverse fans will enjoy. It’s all to say ‘thank you’ to everyone for watching and supporting our show throughout nine wonderful years. We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see Grant and Stephen saving the world together again. And yes, there will be thrills, chills and tears.”
As Wallace stated, “The Flash” launched as a spinoff from “Arrow” after series star Grant Gustin first appeared on that show before eventually taking over the lead role on what will now become the longest running series in CW history (“Supernatural” ran for 15 seasons but actually started with the WB Network).
It’s not known exactly how Amell will make his return — longtime fans of the series will know why that will be an interesting twist — but he will portray the character one more time during the final season of “The Flash.”
Filming on the final season is still ongoing with 13 episodes kicking off on Feb. 8 on The CW.
