Pedro Pascal continues to serve as one of the top leading men in Hollywood after landing the starring role in the new horror film “Weapons” from “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger…
One of the most highly anticipated upcoming horror films just landed one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now.
Pedro Pascal — fresh off his critically acclaimed performance in HBO’s “The Last of Us” — has signed onto star in the upcoming film “Weapons,” which is the new project from “Barbarian” writer and director Zach Cregger.
New Line is set to produce the film after winning a bidding war for the rights to the movie with a script also written by Cregger.
Plot details have not been revealed by reports have stated that “Weapons” is a “interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of “Magnolia” — the 1999 film from director Paul Thomas Anderson.
“Weapons” ended up as one of the most sought after titles going up for grabs in recent history after “Barbarian” turned out to be a surprising hit for Warner Bros. while pulling in over $45 million at the box office on just a $4.5 million budget.
That led to Cregger pitching his next project with numerous studios and streamers vying to land the rights before New Line ultimately won out while also guaranteeing a theatrical release for the film. “Weapons” is expected to get into production in the fall.
As for Pascal, he’s become one of the busiest actors in the industry lately with his role in “The Last of Us” as well as “The Mandalorian” on Disney+. Pascal also recently signed onto star in the upcoming “Gladiator” sequel from director Ridley Scott so he’s got plenty to keep him busy these days.
There’s no release date set yet for “Weapons,” although if production gets underway later this year, it’s possible the film lands in theaters sometime in 2024.
