In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we look back at the 1976 Richard Donner classic “The Omen” and discuss if this horror classic still holds up to this day!
The idea behind “The Omen” started as simply as a suggestion when producer Harvey Bernhard was speaking to a friend named Bob Munger and the subject turned to the bible and the Antichrist.
Immediately Bernhard decided that was a film worth making so he hired David Seltzer to write the script with little known TV director named Richard Donner to lead the film.
Donner and Seltzer actually disagreed about whether the film should stay ambiguous and open to interpretation when it came time to decide if Damien was actually the son of the devil or not.
Ultimately, Seltzer won out with a straight forward version of the story that leaves no doubt bout the devil in the details, although no supernatural events were allowed to occur to still shroud the story in a mystery….
In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to read the Book of Revelations and say it was all for you Damien as we review the 1976 film “The Omen”…
