“Terrifier 3” will get into production later this year with a much bigger budget for the latest horror sequel following the massive success of “Terrifier 2″…
On just a $250,000 budget, “Terrifier 2” became a smash success this past year after the gory and shocking horror sequel directed by Damien Leone ended up earning more than $15 million at the box office, largely through word of mouth from people who had already seen the film.
Now Leone is returning for “Terrifier 3” except this time he’ll have a much bigger budget to work with.
France based distribution group The Coven is producing the next “Terrifier” film with budget increasing to “low to mid seven figures,” which is a drastic difference from the previous movie.
While story details about “Terrifier 3” are being kept under wraps, Leone is returning to write and direct the sequel with David Howard Thornton on board to portray the haunting and brutal Art the Clown for the third time while Lauren LaVera is also expected to return as heroine Sienna Shaw after she first appeared in “Terrifier 2.”
“Terrifier 3 will be another boundary pushing addition to the horror genre, continuing the no holds barred, uncompromising exploits fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate,” Leone told Deadline.
“If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
Both of the “Terrifier” movies have featured practical effects designed by Leone and it’s likely the shocking scenes in this third film will only get more graphic and disturbing.
Shooting locations have also not been revealed but “Terrifier 3” is expected to get into production in November or December with the film then expected to be released in late 2024.
