The upcoming “Captain America” sequel has suddenly undergone a title change along with a first look photo featuring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford…
“Captain America: New World Order” is no more.
The upcoming sequel and fourth installment in the “Captain America” franchise suddenly has a new name after Marvel Studios posted a teaser photo from set featuring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.
The new title for the film will be “Captain America: Brave New World” with the release date for the movie still set on May 3, 2024.
The film is being directed by Julius Onah with a script from Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, who both worked on “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” series on Disney+ that saw Mackie’s character Sam Wilson become the new Captain America after his friend Steve Rogers gave up the shield at the conclusion of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Mackie will now take over the lead role as Captain America in the upcoming sequel with Ford now portraying Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross — a role originally played by the late William Hurt. In the upcoming film, Ross has been elected president, which will give Ford plenty of time to get to know his new Captain America.
The film will also see the return of Liv Tyler as Ross’ daughter Betty Ross as she reprises a role she originally played in “The Incredible Hulk” back in 2008.
Details about the plot of the film are still being kept under wraps but now there’s a new title attached to the film that’s still due out in May 2024.
