The new “Ahsoka” trailer should get “Star Wars” fans plenty excited, especially after getting a first look at a live action Grand Admiral Thrawn…
The name Grand Admiral Thrawn has been part of “Star Wars” mythology for decades but now the character is finally making a live action debut in the upcoming “Ahsoka” series on Disney+.
The new trailer for the highly anticipated series starring Rosario Dawson in the lead role dropped on Tuesday with a first look at Thrawn as portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen, who also voiced the character in the “Star Wars: Rebels” series.
Thrawn has been mentioned in other live action series such as “The Mandalorian” but he hasn’t actually been seen until now.
While plot details around “Ahsoka” are still somewhat secretive, the trailer teases the continued expansion of the remnants of the Galactic Empire in the wake of their defeat by the Rebels. Now with Thrawn back in the fold as well as another dangerous faction of lightsaber wielding villains, Ahsoka Tano has her work cut out for her.
Thankfully it looks like she’ll have plenty of backup, especially as she seeks out an old friend — Sabine Wren — a Mandalorian warrior who once possessed the Darksaber — and now it looks like she’ll be called upon to help Ahsoka on her latest mission.
Check out the new trailer for “Ahsoka” and get ready for the two episode premiere on Disney+ on August 23 on Disney+.
