When James Wan and Leigh Wannell unleashed the original “Saw” movie in 2004, nobody could have possibly imagined that the film would spawn one of the longest running horror franchises in history.
Comedian Chris Rock even got involved with his idea for a “Saw” spinoff called “Spiral” that actually delayed plans for an eventual return to the franchise roots with Tobin Bell reprising his iconic role as Jigsaw.
Once “Spiral” struggled at the box office, producers shifted gears rather quickly towards an original idea about a “Saw” sequel that would also actually serve as a prequel with Bell coming back alongside series favorite Shawnee Smith as Jigsaw’s twisted prodigy Amanda.
The new sequel is set between the events of “Saw” and “Saw 2” as John Kramer searches for a cure for his cancer that will allow him to live but he soon discovers miracles rarely ever happen…
