The original trilogy directed by Leigh Janiak was released in weekly installments on Netflix in the summer of 2021 and the films all received positive reviews. That led to Netflix exploring the expansion of the “Fear Street” universe with plenty of source material to draw from thanks to Stine’s numerous books in the series.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Fear Street: Prom Queen”:
“Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”
Palmer and Donald McLeary wrote the script for the new “Fear Street” movie and with the cast now announced, it’s expected that filming will soon get underway. There’s no word yet when “Fear Street: Prom Queen” might arrive on Netflix.
