The Inhumans are officially coming to the Marvel Universe with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. adding a new cast member on Thursday…
The Marvel Universe is about to get a little bigger with the introduction of the Inhumans during the second half of season 2 of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and there’s a new cast member to help bring them to life.
Luke Mitchell — best known for his role on ‘The Tomorrow People’ — will join the series as an Inhuman named Lincoln, who will play a key role in helping Skye to understand her new and developing powers.
The Inhumans in the comic books were created when the Kree (Ronan the Accuser from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was Kree, as was the blue alien who helped cure both Coulson and Skye) landed on Earth centuries ago and decided to experiment on the lifeforms they found there by splicing alien DNA into early human DNA. They eventually abandoned the project for unknown reasons, but the Inhumans ended up creating a home and society of their own, complete with massive advancements in technology.
Experimentation with something called Terrigen crystals eventually led the Inhmans to encounter Terrigen mist, which reacted with their DNA and ‘activated’ their super powers.
The Inhumans will play a major role in several Marvel films including the one focused on the group itself slated for release in 2018. But for now, The Inhumans will start to inhabit this current Marvel universe with characters showing up in series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Look for Mitchell to pick up his part as an Inhuman when the show returns on March 3.
