When Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ ended with season 5, the show runners couldn’t be certain if the series would be renewed or not so they wrote the finale with a satisfying ending while also leaving the possibility open for a cliffhanger should the show return.
Well ABC ultimately renewed ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ for two more seasons with the upcoming season 6 expected to debut this summer and the first teaser for the show has just been released with a major revelation about the future of Agent Phil Coulson.
At the end of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ season 5, Coulson had been infected with a plague that spelled his certain death but rather than fight it, he opted to help his team win their fight to save the world and then decided to retire to Tahiti to live out his final days alongside Agent Melinda May.
Now as season 6 picks up, Agent Phil Coulson is dead and Mack is now the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. as he continues to lead the team into new adventures but there’s an interesting tease at the end of this trailer that throws everything into upheaval.
