Just days after Lucy Griffith exited the upcoming NBC series ‘Constantine’ the new lead actress has been cast for the show….
Changes are in place for NBC’s new series ‘Constantine’ after ‘True Blood’ actress Lucy Griffiths was axed from the show in order to reshoot and re-plot the course of the first season based on the classic comic book ‘Hellblazer’.
Griffiths was playing Liv, a totally new character created specifically for the series and not based on anyone from the comic book, but she was supposed to be Constantine’s gal pal as he was introduced into the series.
Now instead of Griffiths, the role of Zed (well known from the Hellblazer comics) will be introduced as played by Latina actress Angelica Celaya, a telenovela star who has briefly appeared in series such as ‘Dallas’ before her role in ‘Constantine’.
The producers behind the show will leave the original pilot as is with Griffiths starring alongside Matt Ryan, who plays Constantine in the series, but they will reshoot one additional scene to explain her exit from the show.
Celaya will then pick up playing Zed in the rest of the first season set to debut this fall on NBC.
