J.J. Abrams has a new television series in the works and it’s received a lot of attention from Apple and HBO…
J.J. Abrams is ready to develop his next television series and he’s already got interested suitors with Apple and HBO engaged in a bidding war to retain the rights.
According to Variety, Abrams new series from his Bad Robot production studio is based around a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force but there are few other details available about the show.
What we do know is that Abrams is one of the hottest directors and producers in show business so it’s no wonder both Apple and HBO are interested in landing his newest series.
Abrams has developed numerous television series in the past including ‘Lost’, ‘Fringe’ and ‘Alias’.
While Apple and HBO are the leading contenders, Warner Bros. Television — who are shopping the series — are still open to other bids from any other potential contenders.
Abrams is just as busy as always because in addition to his new sci-fi series he’s also in the early stages of production on ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’, which he will co-write and direct for Disney and Lucasfilm while also preparing for the launch of ‘Castle Rock’, another television series he’s producing at Hulu based on characters from writer Stephen King.
Abrams is also working alongside writer/director Quentin Tarantino on a new film in the ‘Star Trek’ franchise as well.
