The horror series “Archive 81” has already been cancelled at Netflix after just a single season on the streamer…

“Archive 81” will not see a second season after the show was cancelled by Netflix on Thursday.

The news comes as a surprise after the horror series based on a podcast of the same name actually spent quite a bit of time in the top 10 most watched shows on Netflix. The series even briefly had a reign at No. 1 before being dethroned by the return of “Ozark” and its final season.

The series starred Mamoudou Athie as Dan Turner —  an archivist who’s hired for a mysterious job where he’s asked to restore video tapes retrieved from a building that caught fire back in 1994. Before long, Dan finds himself being intrigued Melody Pendras — played by Dina Shihabi — who goes to an apartment building in New York to shoot a documentary for school while also searching for her mother after learning that she was supposedly a resident there years earlier.

To her shock, Melody gets caught up with a dangerous cult based out of the building and Dan starts piecing back together what exactly happened to her while also being convinced that he can somehow stop her from from the tragic end she met 25 years earlier.

The first season of “Archive 81” ended on quite a cliffhanger but sadly it appears there will be no resolution now that Netflix has cancelled the series.
