“Arrow” star David Ramsey will reprise his role as John Diggle for several appearances on the CW including guest spots on “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow”…
“Arrow” may be completed but that doesn’t mean all of the characters are disappearing from the “Arrow-verse” on the CW.
David Ramsey, who portrayed Oliver Queen’s friend and crime-fighting partner John Diggle for all eight seasons of the recently finished series, will be returning for several appearances across numerous shows in 2021.
Ramsey is set to appear as John Diggle in “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Batwoman,” “Superman and Lois” as well as a “mystery role” in the upcoming season of “Legends of Tomorrow.”
On “Legends of Tomorrow,” Ramsey is teased for a “mystery role” that could play into a larger mythology for his character that originated on “Arrow.” He will appear in a total of five episodes across the five different series.
Diggle’s return has many fans speculating that he will finally become a Green Lantern after that was heavily teased in the “Arrow” series finale. In that episode, John is moving his family to Metropolis but just before leaving, a meteor falls from the sky and knocks him back against a moving van. When John gets back to his feet, he stumbles upon a mysterious box emitting a bright green light from inside.
Of course in the comic book universe, a Green Lantern is chosen when a ring seeks out a new owner after the previous one has perished. Ramsey previously addressed that rumor while doing media to promote the “Arrow” series finale.
“I don’t know what that means,” Ramsey said. “But he does go to Metropolis, and he got a green box. We’ll still see, believe it or not. We’ll find out.”
Beyond his return as John Diggle across several CW shows, Ramsey will also step behind the camera to direct a few episodes this season as well. He will be helming episodes for both “Supergirl” and “Superman and Lois,” which is set to debut in early 2021.
Ramsey had previously directed a pair of episodes on “Arrow” while he was still starring in that season.
Look for Ramsey’s appearances on the CW series in early 2021 when “The Flash” and the other shows return from a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
