Marvel Studios made a huge splash in a return to San Diego Comic Con with several major announcements including two new ‘Avengers’ films…
A three-year absence from San Diego Comic Con ended for Marvel Studios on Saturday with a huge event that featured details on several new films and television series coming soon from the Disney owned company.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige rolled out a deeper look at the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Four with upcoming films such as “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and for the first time he shared details about Phase Five and Phase Six.
While there was still no mention of any plans for the X-Men characters, Feige dropped several other huge announcements about the upcoming slate of projects from the studio that will all culminate in the conclusion of Phase Six all the way in 2025.
So without further ado, let’s talk about all of the major announcements made by Marvel on Saturday:
Two New Avengers Movies On the Way

The biggest reveal was the announcement that two new “Avengers” films would conclude what Feige announced as “The Multiverse Saga” that would serve as the bedrock for the latest series of stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The new films will be titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” which is set for release on May 2, 2025 followed by “Avengers: Secret Wars” due out on November 7, 2025.
Of course, “The Kang Dynasty” references Kang the Conquerer, who is expected to serve as the primary antagonist across the MCU in these latest set of films. Originally called “He Who Remains” during the first season of “Loki,” the character was eventually revealed as Kang — a longtime villain in the Marvel Comics, who travels across time and the multiverse in his quest for domination over the entire universe.
Kang, who is being played by “Lovecraft Country” actor Jonathan Majors, will next appear in the upcoming film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” but it’s also been previously revealed that there will be numerous versions of the character showing up in various Marvel projects because there are so many different Kangs from all the different parts of the Multiverse.
The second film called “Avengers: Secret Wars” confirms a longstanding rumor that Marvel would eventually build towards that storyline in the latest saga for the studio. The original “Secret Wars” story, which debuted back in 1984, featured the heroes and villains from Earth being transported to a planet called Battleworld where they are pitting against each other in a fight for survival.

Obviously the film version could differ from the comics much like the Infinity Saga changed exactly how Thanos came to power and why he wanted to use the Infinity Gauntlet but the main storytelling devices were still the same. That could also be the case for “Avengers: Secret Wars” now that we know Kang is being set up as the primary villain for the next few years.

While there was still no news about the cast for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film, the movie did get a release date set on November 8, 2024 as part of Marvel’s Phase Six.
Feige teased that there will be plenty more films and TV series announced for Phase Six in the future but for now we know at least the “Fantastic Four” film along with the two new “Avengers” films will be a major part of those plans.
Daredevil: Born Again

Another huge announcement made on Saturday was the revelation that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will both return for a new “Daredevil” series on Disney+ titled “Daredevil: Born Again.”
The series will run a whopping 18-episodes with Cox and D’Onofrio reprising their roles from the “Daredevil’ series that ran for three seasons on Netflix.
“Born Again” is a famous run in the “Daredevil” comics from legendary writer Frank Miller that centers around Matt Murdock’s former girlfriend Karen Page becoming a drug addict and eventually selling his secret identity in exchange for a shot of heroin. The information that Matt Murdock is actually Daredevil eventually makes its way to Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, who uses that to begin an all out assault on Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
The attacks become so dramatic that Matt is eventually left homeless and without a business any longer but that doesn’t satisfy Kingpin’s thirst for vengeance because he doesn’t want his enemy only disgraced — he wants him dead.
That begins an epic battle between Daredevil and Kingpin in one of the most critically acclaimed story arcs in the history of those characters.
“Daredevil: Born Again” will arrive on Disney+ in Spring 2024.
The New Captain America

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) was officially named the new Captain America in “Falcon and The Winter Soldier” and now he’ll take up the mantle in his own movie coming in 2024.
The film will be titled “Captain America: New World Order” and that will land in theaters on May 3, 2024.
There’s no word yet if Sebastian Stan will return to his role as the Winter Soldier for the film, although it seems highly likely he’ll at least make an appearance after starring alongside Mackie in the series for Disney+.
There’s also unanswered questions about The Power Broker, who was revealed to be Sharon Carter, as well as Baron Zemo, who made his return during “Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
More Movies and TV Series Coming Soon.
For the rest of Phase Five, Feige revealed a few new titles, some others that would serve as sequels or additional seasons on Disney+ as well as a timeline for release.
PHASE FIVE
Ant-Man: Quantumania, which got a first look trailer exclusively for San Diego Comic Con, will land in theaters on February 17, 2023. The trailer revealed that Scott Lang, Hope Van Dyne and just about everybody else involved with them gets pulled into the Quantum Realm where they encounter Kang the Conquerer.
Next up will be the Disney+ series “Secret Invasion” starring Samuel L. Jackson, which adopts a storyline from the comics about the shape-shifting Skrulls seeking to take over Earth by replacing many prominent people including numerous heroes. Colbie Smulders will return as Maria Hill while Ben Mendelsohn will also make his return as Talos for the series.
“Secret Invasion” will also mark the debut of “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke in a new role as well and Kingsley Ben-Adair, who will serve as the primary villain during “Secret Invasion.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3” will then land in theaters on May 5, 2023 in what director James Gunn calls the final version of this story and team. Gunn has previously hinted that he would conclude his run with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films with this sequel and now that’s been officially confirmed.
The first footage shown during the Hall H panel got rather emotional as the cast gathered one last time at the massive convention while likely preparing to say goodbye to at least some of these characters after “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3” opens next year. The teaser trailer also revealed a first look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock — a character that Gunn said was originally slated to appear in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2” but now he’ll serve as a major part of “Vol. 3” instead.
The new Disney+ series “Echo’ will follow that in the summer of 2023 with Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) making her return after first appearing in “Hawkeye” with both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio expected to appear in that series, which is already in production.
Then “Loki” season 2 will arrive in summer 2023 as well followed by “The Marvels,” which serves as a sequel to both “Captain Marvel” and “Ms. Marvel” with that arriving in theaters on July 28, 2023.
The highly anticipated “Blade” movie starring Mahershala Ali finally got a release date with that film slated to drop on November 3, 2023 followed by the “Ironheart” series in Fall 2023.

“Ironheart” will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams — a brilliant young woman who manages to engineer her own version of the Iron Man suit. Thorne will first appear as Riri Williams in the upcoming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film due out in November.
Following that series will be “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” which will see Kathryn Hahn return as Agatha Harkness in her own series after first appearing in “WandaVision.” That series will debut in the winter of late 2023 or early 2024.

“Daredevil: Born Again” comes next in spring 2024 followed by the new “Captain America: New World Order” sequel.
Finally, Marvel Phase Five will come to a close with “Thunderbolts” after Feige teased that team announcements would be coming soon for that film that’s due out on July 26, 2024.

She-Hulk Trailer and Surprise
There was also a new trailer for “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” that debuted, which you can see below. The series is set to debut on Disney+ on August 17 and the trailer also revealed that Matt Murdock aka Daredevil would also at least make a cameo in the series.
