The next “Avengers” film has found its screenwriter with the same person behind the upcoming sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”…
The next “Avengers” film has founds its writer.
Jeff Loveness — who previously worked on “Rick and Morty” before writing the upcoming sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” — has been hired to pen the script for “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” which is due out May 2, 2025.
While there are no real details about the next “Avengers” movie, the title alone teases what’s to come with Kang the Conquerer serving as the central villain for the upcoming films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Loveness got real familiar with the character while writing a version of Kang as the primary antagonist in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which opens on February 17, 2023.
Kang — as played by Jonathan Majors — has many different versions of himself across time and the multiverse. The character first appeared in the MCU as He Who Remains during the first season of “Loki” and now a different version of Kang will show up in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.”
By the time “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” rolls around, there’s no telling how many versions of the character will be possible across the multiverse but given the title of the film, it’s expected that world domination will be paramount to the story in this upcoming sequel.
Loveness will write the script with Destin Daniel Cretton — who directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” — serving as director in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”
The next film in the series will be “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which releases in theaters on November 7, 2025, although there’s been no word on who will write or direct that particular film. Marvel favorites Anthony and Joe Russo — who directed both “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” — have expressed interest in working on that particular film but it remains to be seen if they’ll return for that sequel.
