Ruby Rose will get her own shot at a CW show after the network ordered a pilot for ‘Batwoman’ that will film in 2019 with hopes of a series order later this year…
‘Batwoman’ is one step closer to a full series on the CW.
After first debuting during the ‘Elseworlds’ crossover last year, the CW has ordered a pilot for the ‘Batwoman’ series starring ‘Orange is the New Black’ alum Ruby Rose in the starring role.
Rose originated the role during the three night crossover event that ran between ‘Supergirl’, ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ as she portrayed Kate Kane — a businesswoman by day and vigilante by night, who seeks to clean up the streets of Gotham City following the disappearance of Batman. The initial appearance of Kate Kane during the ‘Arrow-verse’ crossover explained that she was Bruce Wayne’s cousin and that she had taken over the Wayne Enterprises building in his absence.
Now it appears Rose will get a chance to prove ‘Batwoman’ deserves her own series with a pilot being ordered from the CW.
Veteran director David Nutter will handle the first episode of the series after he did the same for both ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’. Of course, Nutter is best known for his work on ‘Game of Thrones’, where he’s directed some of the best episodes in the series and he will direct three more episodes during the final season debuting in April.
Assuming the pilot is successful, it’s likely that the CW would look to add ‘Batwoman’ to their current lineup of superhero series that also includes ‘Black Lightning’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.
