“Batwoman” season 2 will feature Javicia Leslie in the lead role as she takes over for Ruby Rose and a first look at her in the Batsuit has been revealed…
There’s a new Batwoman in town.
Following the exit of Ruby Rose ahead of the second season of the CW series, Javicia Leslie will take over in the lead role for “Batwoman” and the first look at her wearing the new Batsuit has been revealed.
Leslie will be playing a new character named Ryan Wilder, who will be introduced during “Batwoman” season 2 when the show returns in 2021.
The new Batwoman is described as “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.”
Take a look at the first two images of Leslie in the Batsuit below:
“I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman — it’s her style, her swag, and her moment,” Leslie said in a statement. “I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”
“Batwoman” got back into production just recently in Vancouver with season 2 expected to debut in early 2021 on The CW.
