“Billions” season 5 will debut in May as scheduled but unfortunately only the first seven episodes will air with the rest coming later in 2020…
“Billions” season 5 will arrive in two parts due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Showtime series returns on May 3 with the first seven episodes of season 5. Unfortunately because production on the show was interrupted due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the final few episodes of the season have not been filmed yet.
That means the remainder of “Billions” season 5 will not air until a later date at some point in 2020 once the show can get back into production again. Co-creator Brian Koppelman commented on the situation following an initial announcement from Showtime.

“Billions” is just the latest series to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which has essentially shut down every television and film production over the past couple of months. Series like “The Walking Dead” will not even air their season finale because post production work couldn’t be finished in time to bring the episode to air.
Numerous films have also seen release dates pushed back with theaters across the globe shutdown in an attempt to slow the spread of the deadly virus. Other movies like Warner Bros. and DC’s “The Batman” have completely shut down production with cities all over the world recommending social distancing and urging people to stay in their homes outside of traveling for essential needs like groceries or medical care.
The fifth season of “Billions” will debut on Sunday night, May 3 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime with the release date for the final few episodes of the season still to be determined.
