Charlie Hunnam teases an idea that he’s working on that would see him return to his most famous role as Jax Teller on “Sons of Anarchy”…
It’s been nearly eight years since Charlie Hunnam last played Jax Teller on “Sons of Anarchy” but despite the series ending, he might have an idea that could see him return to the role.
As he’s promoting his upcoming Apple+ series “Shantaram,” Hunnam addressed his continued passion for playing Jax on the hugely popular series that ran for seven seasons on FX and also produced a spinoff called “Mayans M.C.” that’s currently airing on the network.
In fact, Hunnam says he’s working on something currently that could involve him putting back on the “Sons of Anarchy” kutte and climbing on a Harley Davidson motorcycle again.
“I have an idea that I’m exploring in its infancy that, that could be a possibility,” Hunnam told Access Hollywood. “It would be something that I would be incredibly excited about. We’re in the infancy of exploring the viability of the idea.”
It’s interesting to hear Hunnam say he’s working on a potential return because fans of “Sons of Anarchy” remember how that series ended — with Jax Teller meeting his demise after driving head first into an oncoming tractor-trailer as a way to essentially save his sons from dealing with their father’s complicated criminal legacy.
While Jax Teller is dead, Hunnam seems confident that he’s got something in the works that could reunite him with old friends and past cast members.
“There might be a little be unfinished business,” Hunnam told fellow “Sons of Anarchy” stars Theo Rossi and Kim Coates on their podcast. “I feel like there could be a little way for us to get together for one last hurrah.
“I’ve got a little something. We’re not going to say anything else but we might get the band back together one more time.”
Hunnam didn’t elaborate any further and “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter hasn’t made any comment on the possibility of reviving the series, although he had previously explored a prequel series that would explore the creation of the motorcycle club centered around the original founding members.
Unfortunately, Sutter split with FX back in 2019, which also separated him from “Mayans M.C.” — the spinoff series that he was running alongside Elgin James. In the wake of Sutter’s exit, James has remained the sole showrunner with “Mayans M.C.” already picked up for season 5 on FX.
Still, Hunnam seems to believe he could revive Jax Teller for one last ride alongside his former castmates in some kind of “Sons of Anarchy” reunion.
